The Albanese Government has referred a parliamentary inquiry into the sustainability and accessibility of Australia Post, providing an important opportunity to shape the future of postal services in communities across Australia.
For more than 200 years, Australia Post has helped keep Australians connected and delivered essential services to communities across the country. However, changing communication habits, declining letter volumes and shifts in consumer behaviour are creating new challenges for the postal network. At the same time, Australia Post continues to play a vital role in supporting local communities, businesses and regional economies.
Following a referral from the Minister for Communications, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Communications, the Arts and Sport will examine how Australia’s postal network can continue to meet the evolving needs of Australians.
The inquiry will consider opportunities to improve and diversify services delivered through the post office network, while ensuring Australia Post remains accessible, sustainable and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.
I want to ensure our community’s experiences, priorities and ideas are heard as part of this inquiry.
I am inviting individuals, local businesses and community groups to contribute their views, experiences and suggestions to help inform that submission.
Your feedback will help ensure our community's needs and priorities are heard.
Australia Post is an essential part of Australia’s social and economic fabric. By working together, we can help ensure its future reflects the needs of the people, businesses and communities it serves.
You can make a submission to the inquiry between now and 7 December.
